SGA Runoff!

April 2, 2009

Mountaineers–

It has been a crazy ride up to this point–days upon days of little or no sleep.  Days of racing all over campus to meet with different groups to see what it is that we can do for the students.  Too many bottles of sunkist.  Too many frozen pizzas for sustenance while painting our banners to hang  around campus…having no room in any of our apartments because of painting supplies, drying banners, drying tshirts and posters, etc, but finding out we made it to runoffs has made it all worth it.

We are honored that over 1,000 ASU students have put their faith in our ability to make the SGA an organization that truly is accountable to the will of the student body. We have listened to what you have said so far, and we will continue to do so, hopefully while serving as Student Body President and Vice President at Appalachian State.
We  know that there are many groups that we have not been able to visit as of yet.  We know there are still groups out there that feel they are not having their voices heard.  We are fighting for these positions with everything that we have, and meeting more students and getting their ideas and perspectives on how to make changes at ASU is our top priority.

Please contact us at jonathanmicheleSGA@gmail.com and lets arrange a time to meet so we can get the broadest idea of what this campus needs.  It doesn’t matter what time it is–before your 8 am class or at 3 in the morning (we’ll probably be up anyway) we want to hear from you!

We also want to take the time and thank everyone who has actively helped us with our campaign so far and to those silent supporters that we might not have met yet.  Thank you for talking to your friends about what we want to achieve.  Thank you for stopping by our table and asking us questions about what we can do for you.  Thank you for the emails, the phone calls, even just the smile and wave while we are walking to class–we appreciate it all and can’t tell you how excited we are about taking on this great responsibility.

We will continue to keep you posted about what we are doing in the campaign and how you can get involved.

ASU Cycling Team Endorses Meisner-Armstrong Campaign!

ASU Cycling Team Endorses Meisner-Armstrong Campaign!

The ASU Cycling Team has decided unanimously to endorse the Meisner-Armstrong Campaign.  If any club or organization would like to do so as well, please send an email to jonathanmicheleSGA@gmail.com with a photo of your group so we can put it on our website.

We really appreciate all the support we have received from students and organizations as a whole.  We hope that the student body realizes that we are working as hard as we can to ensure that the administration hears ASU students.  We hope that you will put your faith in our ability to get things done at Appalachian State University.

Thank you again for your support!

Platform Rap

March 23, 2009

We have uploaded our platform rap to the website.  You can check it out here.

The rap was written by Morgan Givens.  Vocals were performed by Morgan Givens and Sarah Mosseller.  We aren’t claiming to be excellent musicians, but we hope we at least get people thinking about the upcoming election and some of the issues students face on campus.  If you want to hear more about our platform and the goals we have for the upcoming year, check us out at the Candidate Debate tomorrow at 5:30 pm in the Blue Ridge Ballroom.

Get out and vote…aaaaaayy….ok, we’ll stop.

Debate info!

March 19, 2009

Last night in my absolute excitement for the candidate debate, I said that the debate would be held tomorrow.   Tomorrow….Monday, that sounds similar, right?  The actual debate location and time is Monday, March 23rd at 5:30 pm in the Blue Ridge Ballroom.  We hope you will all make it out in support of Jonathan and Michele.  The debate will be extremely important so all voters can make an informed decision about the candidates.  If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them here, or send us an email at jonathanmicheleSGA@gmail.com

Website Launch!

March 18, 2009

After many long, arduous days in the library, lots of cursing over deleted files and too many bottles of sunkist to count, the Meisner-Armstrong campaign website launched! We wanted the website to really represent Jonathan and Michele–it is bright, energetic and shows how passionate they are about making an impact on Appalachian State.  The website and this blog will be updated regularly as the race to the finish continues.  We really hope that you will be inspired by all the hard work Jonathan & Michele are putting into their campaign and tell your friends that when they vote on March 30th, the Meisner-Armstrong ticket is the way to go.

Both Jonathan and Michele are excellent athletes, but more importantly they are leaders on campus and always push themselves to succeed.  Campaigning is never easy, and I can say honestly that neither has slept more than 6 hours in the past few days in order to create a dynamic website and banners to really show what they are about.

All the materials used to create the banners on campus are recycled or second-hand, right down to the paint and bed sheets.  Many people have asked whether the banners are printed or not, and we are proud to say that they were all made painstakingly by hand.  Jonathan and Michele were in the thick of things–stenciling, painting, assembling, climbing trees and becoming involved in the creative process as a whole.  They truly believe that they can be the new voices the SGA needs, and it is obvious they are willing to put in the work to get there.

If you have any questions or comments about Jonathan and Michele’s campaign so far, feel free to leave a comment here or email us at jonathanmicheleSGA@gmail.com–we would love to hear from you!

Remember, we will have contact tables through the 27th–come out and speak with Jonathan & Michele directly so they can let you know their plans for the upcoming school year.

Hope you all have an amazing day, and remember–Meisner-Armstrong, New Voices for a Better Appalachian!
